Apple on Tuesday unveiled a new cloud storage service iCloud and updated operating system iOS 5, but no iPhone 5, at its Worldwide Developer Conference.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs returned from medical leave to introduce iCloud, a free service that allows users to sync, store and push data from the company's online server to all their Apple devices.

With the iCloud service, users can share all the songs, books and applications they bought from iTunes on up to 10 Apple devices for free. The synchronization will automatically happen via wireless connections.

"iCloud is integrated with your apps, so everything happens automatically," Jobs said.

According to Jobs, the new cloud service is based on an idea that he had a decade ago, which envisioned turning computers into personal hubs.

In order to make iCloud happen, Apple has signed a number of deals in recent weeks with major music publishers. Industry executives said they will get 70 percent of the iCloud service revenue, while Apple will keep the rest of it.

China's business press carried the story above on Wednesday.
