Chinese equities closed lower at midday Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 15.45 points, or 0.57 percent, to end the morning session at 2,673.08.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 118.99 points, or 1.02 percent, to close the morning session at 11,546.42.
