China's tax revenue rose 2.2 percent year on year to 4.51 trillion yuan (662.61 billion U.S. dollars) in the first nine months, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.

The growth rate for the first three quarters was 23.9 percentage points lower from a year earlier. However, the rate was 8.2 percentage points higher than that of the first half of this year, the ministry said in a statement on its official website.

The monthly growth rate posted a fourth straight rise of 30.1 percent in September from 12.2 percent in June, due to the economic recovery and stimulus measures adopted by the government, said the ministry.

During the first nine months, China's consumption taxes rose 79.1 percent year on year, business revenue up 13.1 percent, and individual income taxes up 4.1 percent.

However, the tariff fell 0.4 percent and 26.7 percent to 106.09 billion yuan, brought down by import and export slump caused by the financial crisis.
