American rapper Eminem is the top nominee for Grammy awards, earning 10 nods, including the most prestigious categories of song, album, and record of the year.

Nominations in the top categories for the 53rd Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday during an hour-long concert event at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, California.

Following Eminem is Bruno Mars, who has landed seven nominations. Jay-Z, Lady Antebellum and Lady Gaga each earned six.

Country trio Lady Antebellum won three nominations in the top three categories of album, song and record of the year for "Need You Now." Also competing for record of the year are: B.o.B with Bruno Mars for "Nothin' on You," Cee Lo for "F--- You" and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys for "Empire State of Mind."

Eminem, who has won a total of 11 Grammy Awards over the past decade, won the nominations for best album with "Recovery," and song and record of the year with "Love the Way You Lie"-- which also features Rihanna. The rapper released his seventh studio album "Recovery" in June, which was an instant hit and had sold three million copies in the United States by late November. The nominations for the Grammy Awards capped his comeback bid on the pop scene.

Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons and Esperanza Spalding were nominated for best new artist awards.

The award ceremony will be held Feb. 13 at Staples Center, Los Angeles.
