Former reality show "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, who was wanted by the Mexican authorities for his role in the death of his wife Monica at a Cancun resort nearly two months ago, said he was innocent, local television channel KTLA 5 reported on its website Tuesday.

Through his attorney, Beresford-Redman issued this statement declaring his innocence: "Monica was the axis around which our whole family revolved. From her sisters and parents to my parents and of course to our children and me, she was everything to us."

"I am devastated at her loss; and I am incensed at the suggestion that I could have had anything to do with her death," he said. "I am innocent."

He also asked the Mexican authorities not to go ahead with their plan to arrest him and put his for trial.

Francisco Antonio Alor Quezada, attorney general for the southern Mexican state of Quintana Roo, said a judge in Cancun had issued an "order of arrest" against Beresford for the crime of "qualified homicide" on Monday. Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant for the award-winning producer.

According to KTLA report, Mexican officials are expected to begin a diplomatic process with U.S. authorities to bring the producer back to Mexico, and to help locate him if he disappears.

Beresford-Redman returned to Los Angeles more than one week ago and was spending time with his two young children at their home in Rancho Palos Verdes, although he was ordered by Mexican government to remain in the country until the completion of the investigation into Monica's death. Beresford-Redman was detained and called a suspect in Monica's death and was later released. But he was classified as a man of interest and was ordered to stay in the country to answer questions in connection with the murder. The Emmy-nominated producer of "Survivor" and MTV's "Pimp My Ride", 38, told police and relatives on April 6 that Monica never made it back to Hotel Moon Palace in Cancun after a solo shopping excursion the day before. Her naked body was found two days later in a sewer pipe near the hotel where the couple had been staying for holiday with their two children. The day would have been Monica's 42nd birthday.
