Rock icon Zhang Chu plans comeback
Adjust font size:

Being one of the most prominent rock figures in 1990s in China, Zhang Chu has been seen these days in periodic shows more than on CD covers. This may change soon, as the singer is planning his first release in ten years.

Zhang Chu will release an EP before the year-end, and will further enhance his comeback with a full-length album next year, the Beijing News quoted a publicist from Zhang's company.

The untitled EP will mark Zhang's first offering since the 1997 album "Aeroplane Factory."

It will feature three songs, one of them named "Sunflower," with award-winning filmmaker Zhang Yang directing the music video for the song.

Since complaints from fans have been heard after the former rock singer played low-energy computer music at several live shows, his publicist said he has dropped electronic music this time and will be back with his well-known poetic tunes.

Zhang Chu will also hold a concert in April at Beijing Exhibition Theater, where he will invite many old friends to the stage, the report says.
